ED Talks® Presents!
Flourishing in Open Access Education
January * February * March * April * May * June * August * September * October
As a reminder, ED Talks® are fashioned after TED® talks, the ever-popular way of sharing personal stories for only 18 minutes of monolog. We do this because we want to spark and hear audience stories, and we can best do that by sharing our stories. Our goal here is not necessarily to teach anyone anything new, as our audience members are already experts in their field. Our goal is to perhaps motivate them to try something new in the approach to helping students or team members succeed. Our story-telling approach is geared to not take a lot of time, but rather to simply to share and visit, and perhaps encourage listeners to encourage students in some new way! Toward the end of each ED Talk® , we will open up the chat and video lines fully for Q&A and sharing out.
ED Talks® Presents! its 10th season, Flourishing in Open Access Education, which examines supporting students and colleagues in open access environments through the lens of positive psychology. Each story takes the work of Martin Seligman's Flourish: A Visionary New Understanding of Happiness and Well-being (2011), and considers the relationship between well-being and the contemporary culture of open access, or open enrollment, higher education.
This year, each ED Talk® is centered on the presenter's personal story, inspired by one of the themes of Flourish (2011).

ED Talks® are not your traditional professional development webinar. Our approach is geared to not take a lot of your time, but to set the stage for online instructors and professionals supporting students to reflect and consider empowering or encouraging students in a new way. ED Talks® are fashioned after TED Talks, the ever popular way of sharing concepts through personal story-telling. Our goal here is not necessarily to teach you anything new, as you are already an expert in your field. We are here instead to perhaps motivate you to try something new in your approach to student success.
